So I am back in Dawson. It's very odd. Not bad at all though. I was really worried for the week before I got here....ok for like the last month I have been nervous about coming back. Being in the hostel I had heard so many horror stories about people going back home after traveling and things having been so the same that they didn't fit anymore. But I have been here for 11 days now and all I keep thinking is I like things being the same. I mean I grew up here ya know? And as much as I might make fun of Dawson it has given me a lot in my life, and I have given a lot to it. But seeing all the people and feeling like royalty because it has been "so long" since I saw people is definitly one of the best feelings in the world for someone like me who always feels pretty :P
My friends here are really cool about the no money thing too. They all seem to understand that I don't have money and are all willing to help me out with a dinner here, a drink there, even rides when I need it. It's very cool and my only goal is to not be an egotistical bastard about it. Its all just kindness not because I am awesome and deserve it, ha haha.
Anyways, I am doing 5 lawns already and may have more in the works. I should make enough to keep my student loan from being a big deal and I am also making money to apply for my UK work-visa. It should be a good five weeks. And in 5 weeks I will be moving to Calgary to live with Vinny for a while. That alone is very exciting for me. I enjoyed myself very much when I was there last spring for my visit and he seemed really excited for me to visit too which makes me feel more special. haha. Ya...I'm pretty.

Heya I am not dead, just had shitty internet the last little while and have been all over the place. The coast was amazing and so was melbourne, just puttering around now. yay relaxing, got a date on tuesday...cute mexican guy...yay

I am stealing internet from the hostel next to ours, we are in Airlie Beach right now and it is okay. Just did a 2 day 1 night sail of the Whitsundays! Words can't describe. We went to a beach that was SO fine it was not only used to build lenses for the Huble Telescope, but when you walk through it, it sounds like SNOW crunching. So odd.
We are off to Great Keppel Island tomorrow, then Fraser Island on Monday, then LOTS of driving for the rest of the week. I promise I will try and givie a more detailed posting and pictures soon, but I am out of time....I think they are on to me...there are people looking through the window pointing...hmmmm

The travelling has officially begun. I am currently in Cairns PAYING for my internet. Sigh. Haven't done that in months. I feel like such a cheap bastard, I have wirtten all my emails and even this post earlier on today so that when I plug in my comp and turn it on everything just sends and recieves and I can read everything I need to after I disconnected. It reall does amuse me to think that I am that cheap. But hey when you are being charged $5/hour because you have your own laptop (and so far that is the cheapest) I don't feel bad about being cheap at all. It will be nice to get back to NA and our high speeds.
The flight up was good, there doesn't seem to be much of a night life here in Cairns. I am still not really sure WHY it is such a "hot tourist spot" and the only thing I can come up with is it has ALL the cliche tourist packages that you are looking for when you come up the coast. The coolest thing I have seen so far was this tree downtown, you could hear it before you saw it. Not hear the actual tree, but the birds in it. There was no wind yet this massive tree was moving because of the life it contained. These are the birds in it. It was very cool, but over all Cairns is not that impressive. I am looking forward to leaving tomomrrow with Niels and Dan. We pick up our Van then head up to Cape Trib for the afternoon then back through Cairns tomorrow night and down a little. There is a great campsite that was suggested to me.
We are all pretty excited about it. I have to admit, I am a little nervous cause the last two days they have not given me a lot of me time and I am used to being able to hide for at least an hour a day. I am not really worried or anything, we'll just have to make it clear that I need that. Even better is tomorrow. *sarcasm* Tomorrow, before we pick up the van, I have to go on a stupid bungee swing. I am very concerned that this will give me a point of negativity, but I am trying hard not to let it. I already get the dirty looks from other backpackers when I explain that I really don't care where I go or what I see so long as I get to swim in the reef. I don't care about any islands, I don't DO rides, I really don't care. I am on this trip right now to relax, and to do that all I need is a book or my writing book, or my computer. But today, and only today, I am going on a ride. Damn Bob...Oh yah, okay so who's Bob...well the three of us realized we are all so apathetic about what we should do and where we should go that we have bought a MAGIC 8 BALL. We named him Bob, and he makes all our decisions about the trip for us, not really ALL so much as where we should go, for example.
Dan - “Bob, should we go to Cape Tribulation?”
Bob – IT IS DECIDEDLY SO
Skeeter – “Bob, do I have to go on the bungee swing with the other guys?”
Bob – YES
Skeeter – “Damnit Bob!”
Niels – “Bob, are we going out for dinner?”
Bob – FUTURE HAZY, PLEASE ASK AGAIN LATER
In any case, Bob should be a good addition to our insanity. I will put some of the more interesting questions and responses up every day. I am sure there will be more than there should be for any sane person.
In other news...I mam reading this really great book right now. Called The Night Watch, written by Sergei Lukyanenko. SO far it is DAMN good. The original was written in 1994, and in Russian. It was only 2006 that it had been translated. It is a REALLY cool take on the whole Vampires amoung us type story. It is an easy read, but not poorly written. The story is mostly in first person and is able to caputure the redader fairly easily. At any rate I suggest it if you are bored and looking for a good book.

So I am leaving The Pink House on Tuesday with Niels and Little Man. It's a very odd thought. This place has been home for the last 9 months and it is almost harder to leave here than it was to leave Dawson. The three of us fly to Cairns on The 8th, stay there for a couple days then we have 18 days to travel down the coast. We arive back in Sydney on the 26th or 27th, depending on when Niels needs to be back, then on the 28th I fly to Melbourne. Overall I am fairly excited, I am super stoked about getting to swim in the Great Barrier Reef before it is completely bleached away.
The coolest part (I mentioned this before) is that our trip is Carbon Neutral. Even my flight to Melbourne. When I do eventually get back to Canada I am going to do the same for my bus trips. The only thing I am really hoping is that the money that these different companies recieve for Green Investments acutally GOES to GREEN INVESTMENTS. I have found a few sites that seem to be pretty invisible and you can see where the money (after administrative costs) is going and I must say I am pleased...and while I look forwward to the day when we will be able to travel WITHOUT carbon emissions, I am happy that there is at least a way to offset the damage you do.
ANYWAY! In other news....TransSista will be giving her LAST performance, probably ever, in Stonewall tomorrow night. It is a little sad I must admit, but I wanted to hang up my heels before I left already, and now...knowing that while I enjoy the actual show I hate everythign that comes WITH it...I have done what less than a handfull of Canadians have done, I have preformed in one of the most popular drag shows in Australia. Thats worth coming out of retirement.
I am off to watch a movie.

So I watched An Inconvenient Truth tonight...FINALLY....I know, but still, it was very impressive. I was impressed by the way he communicated the information. I freely admot, that at first I am a TAD skeptical. Not because I don't believe the information he gave, but because (In our cynical day and age) I must wonder how much of it goes the way of Michael Moore. That said however the facts he presented are sound and found them really motivating.
I am going to buy some carbon offsets for my trips this year to try and balance out the carbon emissions my travelling is going to cause, I am also planning on taking a bit of a more active role in teh Green Peace Co-Op my parents signed me up to and I plan on trying to live more green, keep walking, buy less packaged stuff, try to recycle better, and even somethign as small as bringing my own mug for coffees. I figure what the hell, I might as well do my part, lead by example and all that Jazz, that way the next time I bitch about anti-green policies or thoughts I am not a total Hypocryte like I am now. *shrugs*
Not much else going on. Doing my second and last drag show here in Syd this coming Sunday. TransSista will be back. I don't see it happening much more. I am enjoying it less and less. everytime I commit to doing drag it is a PAIN in the ass to get it up and ready. Granted I have a good time before and on tage, but the lead up is a bitch, and I HATE the make up. HATE it. So I will be giving away the rest of my drag stuff when I get back to Dawson....except for the tiara, I have to be pretty still, and probably some of the gllitter, cause I like being somethign that is shiney.
I have mixed feelings aboput leaving the Pink House in a week. Quite the range of emotions I was not expecting...everything from excitement to SEVERE apprehension. I am becoming increasingly concerned with going back to Canada. I am excited for it be neat to see everyone again, but....I don't know, it feels odd...Meh

I would like to share with you a conversation I over heard today in the courtyard of the hostel.
Str8 boy: So you're gay huh? I have not met any gay blokes before.
Gay boi: Really? There's another gay guy staying here
Str8 boy: Who's that?
Gay boi [sounding surprised]: Skeeter
Str8 boy: What?? [GASP] Skeeter's gay?
Gay boi: Yah...you didn't know that??
Str8 boy [dumbfounded]: I didn't think Skeeter was gay, I just thought he was smart!.
Sigh...So there you have it, all you have to be is SMART and apparently you are a poof. hahahahahahahaha....but the day didn't end there. I watched the movie "ANOTHER GAY MOVIE" tonight, which I must admit was one of the most RACEY things I have ever seen before. The BEST way to put it is as one of the guys watching it with me said. "It's like real life South Park" I found this movie to be funny as HELL! They did a decent job at making fun of a TONNE! of teen movies and a crap load of the gay ones too. Granted the4 script bounced a little in honour of a decent joke, but I really enjoied the film. Laughed really hard at the nastiness of it. Any ways, the movie had ended and a couple of the people watching and I were chatting as I walked out of the room and having a couple chuckles over the fact that I hope I never am in any of those nasty situations, when this one little german guy walked by me (this guy had watched the whole movie and could not have missed me pissing myself at the bad jokes).
As he walked by he looked up at me and said "Those fucking gays," shakes his head and looks a little shaken, "they are disgusting, fucking gays," looks right at me (who at this moment has a look of shock, deer-caught-in-headlights, and laugh-in-your-face-before-I-punch-you all at the same time on my face) and repaets what he just said in a question. "Don't you think those gays are disgusting?"
At this moment the guy sitting on the couch who had watched the movie with me and laughed as hard as I did (the same one who made the South Park comment) started to laugh so hard he started to cry. The poor german looked so confused and walked away. hahahahahhahahhahahah. Sigh...oh str8 boys are going to be the death of me I can see it now. *shakes head*
Oi.
Got my tax return back today. Have neough money for my ticket to the UK in September and enough for the travel I am going to be doing up the coast in two weeks, add to it the money I am getting for my wages, and the few hundred I am getting for my travel commissions and I am good and gold for the rest of my trip. Going out this weekend for a friends birthday....sigh....hahahah I'm smart.

Oh MAN!!! SO I am SOOOO Hooked on a new website a friend showed me today! www.geni.com
You HAVE to go there, it is free INCREDIBLY simple, and builds your family tree for you as you type.
A lot of the information I have on papers stacked in boxes back at my parents and most of what I added to mine was done by memory and guessing, but I managed to get lik 90 people and about 5 generations
SO cool. Add to it the fact that I found out (thanks to facebook...my second addiction) that I have a third or fourth cousin in Melbourne right now, I am SOO going to meet her. haha. LOVE the interweb today.

So I ran my players through a second game tonight, the same game I am going to run the guys through in Canadia this summer when I GM the game I am going to. It is SOOOO good. And the Eberron Setting is fantastic.
My days have been decent. I have been pretty relaxed. I have to book the camper van for Dan, Niels, and Myself tomorrow. We leave in like three weeks for Cairns on May 8th. I am excited for it.
